說明: 在典型的禾草中lodicule（鱗被）在過去的研究裡（如玉米與水稻）已知是等同於花瓣的退化痕跡,然而對於一些未演化出lodicule的禾草目植物則是在雄蕊外以一輪到兩輪的花被片保護著生殖構造,為了解這些非禾本科的單子葉植物B群基因(PI及AP3)的表現與演化,這篇文章在禾本目中分別選了非草本也無lodicule的Elegia與Joinvillea,以及草本但無lodicule的Streptochaeta,與現有的研究做比較,推論禾草的lodicule以及草本Streptochaeta的X-XII bracts應該是從其他禾本目的inner tepal或是第二輪花被所modified來的,這個研究告訴了我們B群基因在草本或非草本單子葉植物演化中第二輪花被的功能保守性.
