Abstract:
Recently, 500+ Mbp were sequenced for Physcomitrella patens genome. This is more or less like a introduction to the current progress and talks about the comparison between P. patens and other land plants. One of the interesting findings is that many genes controlling advance features like flowers, root hairs, are present in this ancient lineage and has a comparable function. It means the evolutionary toolbox is there in the beginning, before the key innovation ever occurred. Actually it makes perfect sense after all.
